I have this pride issue where I have trouble asking people for money when I need it, even though I’ll pay it back. My dad is the founder and executive director of a non-profit in Atlanta, and I asked him one day, “How are you able to ask people for money for the organization? I think I would have trouble with that.” He simply replied, “It’s not hard to ask when you are 100% sold on what you’re asking for. I had to learn it’s not me asking for money, it’s the organization needing to keep going. I believed too much in it to let it die.” (could have been paraphrased but you get the jest).
When you find something that your heart is totally sold on, you will know. It’s the thing that you are willing to do anything for in order to keep it going. Even if it would usually make you feel uncomfortable.
Find that thing and don’t let it go.
